Suede is made from the underside of bovine leather, brushed beforehand to make it softer and more flexible. It is sourced from farms in southern Brazil (Rio Grande do Sul) and tanned in Brazil without the use of harmful or prohibited chemicals. VEJA uses traditional dyes that comply with regulations and takes special care to manage water usage during the tanning process. The suede is coated with PFC-free water-repellent oils to provide protection against light rain.

The brand uses organic cotton from Brazil and Peru for canvas and laces, Amazonian rubber for soles, and a variety of innovative materials made from recycled plastic bottles or polyester for other components.
