The Miami Vice Bag is a true icon of Swiss design history — born from protest, turned into legend.
In 1996, Swiss supermarket chain Migros attempted to copy Freitag’s signature tarp bags, releasing their own version under the name “Donnerstag” (“Thursday”). The counterfeit sparked public outrage, and within days, it disappeared from the shelves.

Freitag responded with creativity — transforming the controversy into opportunity. Their answer was the Miami Vice, a waterproof shopping bag crafted from repurposed truck tarpaulins — a bold act of design revenge that would go on to become one of the brand’s most beloved classics.

Each piece is entirely unique, made from recycled materials with its own colors, patterns, and marks of a life on the road — no two bags are ever alike.
