Material Information

PUrTEX∞ is an unrivalled ultra-durable technology material developed by Ucon Acrobatics over many years. This thinner but longer-lasting material reduces its environmental footprint and takes a step towards circular economy. The material, produced from recycled textile waste, is finished with a solvent-free polyurethane (PU) coating. The PU foam layer has a cross-link structure and its functional aspects are similar to molded rubber. According to the test results, its high performance has been proven; the surface adhesion strength is four times better, and the scratch resistance is 100 times improved compared to traditional artificial leather. In addition, PU production is free of solvents such as DMF and VOC. Carbon emissions have been reduced by more than 50%, energy consumption by more than 40%, and this energy is largely provided by renewable resources. At the base of the material, used textile waste is converted into recycled PET yarn through a chemical recycling process. With the resource-saving spin dyeing process ("dope dye") applied before the woven fabric is knitted, water consumption is reduced by up to 90%, chemical consumption by up to 80%, and energy consumption and CO2 emissions by up to 50%.
