The Era of Renewable Energy at vitruta

When we started discussing sustainability, we knew that we needed to approach the issue holistically. By evaluating various aspects, from the production processes of the products we source to the efficiency of our stores, we have determined both our current situation and our roadmap.

We had previously shared an article containing the latest developments specific to our brands. This time, let's shift the focus to ourselves and talk about the first project we have launched under the vitruta Sustainability Program and why this topic is so important to us.

If we are to talk about sustainability, we naturally had to do our part in the energy sector, which is the largest source of emissions in the world. While the fashion industry has a relatively small carbon footprint considering its size, it is still our responsibility to address the elephant in the room.

In the next 20 years, energy-related greenhouse gas emissions are expected to increase by 14%.* Likewise, if emissions continue at the current rate, the temperature increase is projected to reach 1.5°C by 2030. This is a crucial threshold for the future of our planet.

Yes, we know that unfortunately, at this point, there is no single miraculous solution that can reverse climate change. However, transitioning to renewable, clean energy sources plays a crucial role. According to McKinsey's latest analysis, renewable energy production will represent more than half of the global total by 2035.* Therefore, this could be a step that makes a significant impact on the future of our planet.

Returning to what we are doing, since June 2021, we have been using 100% renewable energy in all our offices, stores, and warehouses. By supporting renewable energy sources under the I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate) standard, we are working to eliminate carbon emissions from energy sources. At the same time, we are striving to minimize our energy consumption by opting for more efficient and long-lasting solutions.

Changing our habits that contribute to climate change is of great significance. Therefore, we will continue to seek and share solutions to implement a more sustainable world.
