Oh, Moon!: A Cinema of Light, Shadow, and Memory

As part of MUBI’s special screening invitation, Good People of vitruta members had the opportunity to experience Reha Erdem’s cult poetic masterpiece Oh, Moon! in its restored version — shown on the big screen for the first time.

Originally released in 1989, the film has become one of the most distinctive works of Turkish cinema, reconstructing a sense of time that feels both mythological and deeply personal. In its restored form, the black-and-white contrasts seem to reveal layers of memory — drawing the audience into a dream suspended somewhere between earth and sky.

Now included in MUBI’s curated selection, Oh, Moon! emerges not merely as a film, but as a meditation on light and darkness, solitude and remembrance.
