Mizanplas’ First Gathering

Ritual, Stillness, Sharing: The World of Mizanplas

Proudly sponsored by vitruta, the Mizanplas project held its first launch gatherings last week in both London and Istanbul, making the publication’s cross-city spirit visible from day one.

On 13 November, the event at vitruta King’s Cross brought together the editorial team, figures from the culinary world, cultural and artistic circles, and members of the Good People of vitruta community in London.

Two days later, on 15 November, vitruta Pera hosted the Türkiye edition of the launch, blending seamlessly into Istanbul’s layered cultural texture. Those curious about the making of the publication, researchers of food culture, editorial circles, and the Good People of vitruta came together that evening.

The warm yet serene atmosphere of Pera resonated naturally with Mizanplas’ desire to bring two cultures closer around a single table. Across both cities, the gatherings reminded us once again of how food has the power to bring people together—even across cultural distances. The evening was accompanied by the exquisite flavors of Giritli Restaurant, whose culinary contribution echoed the spirit of the publication.

At the heart of these gatherings was Mizanplas #1: Japan and Spain, a magazine-book that approaches food not merely as taste, but as a cultural and emotional archive shaped by rituals around the table. From the quiet of a Japanese tea ceremony to the lively warmth of a Spanish evening, from the precision of preparation to the feelings that gather around a shared meal, the publication unfolds a richly layered narrative.

More than a conventional magazine, this first edition offers a long-form reading experience where visuals and texts flow into one another.

Exploring how two seemingly distant cultures intersect in emotion and ritual, the publication is released in both Turkish and English. The first edition of Mizanplas forms a strong connection with vitruta’s vision of supporting culture, design, and storytelling. Through vitruta’s sponsorship, Mizanplas’ first journey becomes both a creative and cultural partnership.

Mizanplas #1: Japan and Spain invites the reader to revisit their own table rituals, memories, and cultural touchpoints.
Two cultures. Two cities.
And a shared memory gathered around a single table.
