Good People of vitruta Gathered at Zeyrek Çinili Hamam

On the evening of May 16, the Good People of vitruta community came together for a special gathering around “Murmurations,” a site-specific exhibition held inside the Byzantine cistern of Zeyrek Çinili Hamam. Led by artist Anousha Payne and curator Anlam de Coster, the event offered an in-depth look into the exhibition’s production process and its connection to the historic site.

London-based artist Anousha Payne created a new body of work for this show, exploring mythology, memory, and material through a layered visual dialogue. Drawing inspiration from traces on stone surfaces, her figurative forms establish a poetic link to the past lives of the space.

We explored the exhibition, became observers of the unfolding narrative, and listened firsthand to Payne’s reflections on her creative process and her response to the cistern. “Murmurations,” is on view at Zeyrek Çinili Hamam through August 15.
